Die Gruppe der Erkrankungen des Mineralocorticoidsystems umfasst alle Erkrankungen die mit einer vermehrten oder verminderten Aldosteron-Sekretion oder -Wirkung einhergehen. Eine überschießende Aldosteronwirkung ist durch Hypertonus, Wasserretention und Hypokaliämie charakterisiert. Die entgegengesetzten Symptome finden sich bei Hypoaldosteronismus: Hypotonie, Wassermangel und Hyperkaliämie.
Die klinische Diagnose muss durch die Laborbestimmung von Aldosteron und Renin kompletiert werden.
