Von diesem HABP2-Gen wird eine Protease kodiert, welche Prourokinase aktiviert. Ein nicht seltener Polymorphismus ist mit dem Auftreten von Karotisstenosen und venösen Thromboembolien assoziiert. Mutationen sollen auch für das autosomal dominanten nicht-medulläres Schilddrüsenkarzinom 5 verantwortlich sein.
Genstruktur
Das HABP2-Gen erstreckt sich über 36,5kb auf dem Chromosom 10 (10q25-q26). Es sind drei verschiedene Spleißvarianten bekannt. Die größte von ihnen besteht aus 13 Exons.
