Die Erkrankung wird auch MINDS-Syndrom bezeichnet. MINDS ist das englische Acronym für macrocephaly, intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental disorder, and small thorax. Es ist ist eine Entwicklungsstörung, die zu Makrozephalie und intellektuellen Defiziten führt. An somatschen Befunden ist vor allem der verkleinerte Thorax hervorzuheben. Die Erkrankung wird durch autosomal dominante Mutationen im MTOR-Gen hervorgerufen.
