Der Somatomedin C Mangel (IGF1-Mangel) ist eine autosomal rezessive Erkrankung, bei welcher die Wachstumsstörung mit einer geistigen Retardierung und einer Innenohrschwerhörigkeit einhergeht. Die Manifestation kann je nach Mutation bereits intraunterin, oder erst im späteren Lebensalter erkennbar werden.
Laborchemisch finden wir einen verminderten Spiegel des funktionellen IGF1 wobei das Wachstumshormon deutlich erhöht sein kann.
