Syntaxin 16
Syntaxin 16 kodiert ein Enzym, welches für die Methylierung von CpG Inseln verantwortlich ist. Es besitzt somit eine Bedeutung beim Imprinting des GNAS1-Gens. Mikrodeletionen in diesem Gen sind in einigen Familien für ein fehlerhaftes Imprining des GNAS1-Gens und damit einen Pseudohypoparathyreoidismus Typ 1b verantwortlich.
Genstruktur
Das Gen erstreckt sich über eine Länge von etwa 30kb. Es sind zwei Spleißvarianten bekannt mit jeweils 9 und 8 translatierten Exons.
