HMG-CoA-Reduktase
Das HMGCR-gen kodiert das Schlüsselenzym der Cholesterinsynthese. Die Hemmung dieses Enzyms wird bei den Cholesterin-Synthesehemmern für die Absenkung des Cholesterinspiegels therapeutisch genutzt. Bisher sind einige Variationen im Gen beschrieben, die einen Einfluss auf die Bildung und die Funktion des Enzyms und damit auch auf die Wirksamkeit der Cholesterinsynthesehemmer besitzen können.
