APOM encodes apolipoprotein M, a protein that plays a role in lipoprotein metabolism and immune modulation.
Apolipoprotein M is secreted by endothelial cells ans mostly remains membrane bound. It is also be found in HDL and to a lesser degree LDL and triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. PLasma concentration is 0.9µmol/l. 95% is bound to HDL.
