Mitochondrial TRNF gene
The mitochondrial gene MT-TF encodes a transport RNA (tRNA) for phenylalanine (F). The gene is encoded by nucleotides 577-647. Diseases caused by mutations include MELAS and MERFF syndromes, myopathy, epilepsy, encephalopathy, and tubulointerstitial nephropathy. The ensemble of all mitochondrial genes is tested if a mitochondrial disorder has to be diagnosed.
