Vascular endothelial growth factor C
The VEGFC gene encodes a protein that regulates development of lymphatic vessels. Mutations cause autosomal dominant Milroy-like lymphedema. Also the protein seems to play a role in sodium retention in the skin and probably salt-dependent hypertension.
