A mutation of the mineralocorticoid receptor causes increased sensity for aldosterone and also progesterone. Thus women during pregnancy or administration of progesterone-containing contraceptives will develop severe hypertension. Only one mutation (p.S810L) is described so far to have this effect. Inheritance is autosomal dominant.
