Das COQ9-Gen kodiert ein mitochondriales Enzym des Ubichinon-10 (Coenzym-10) Stoffwechsels. Mutationen sind sind für den autosomal rezessiven primärer Coenzym Q10-Mangel 5 verantwortlich, eine zerebromuskuläre Erkrankung.
