B-Lymphozyten Tyrosinkinase
Die vom BLK-Gen kodierte Tyrosinkinase ist nicht an einen Rezeptor gebunden steuert aber glucoseabhängig viele Transkriptionsfaktoren in der beta-Zelle. Wahrscheinlich aufgrund dieser Funktion sind Mutationen des Gens für die Entwicklung des MODY Typ 11 verantwortlich. Weitere Bedeutung scheint dieses Gen bei der Anfälligkeit gegenüber Lupus erathematodes zu besitzen, und es gehört zur src-Familie der Proto-Onkogene.
