Das MYH9-Gen kodiert ein für das Zytoskelett essentielles Protein. Mutationen rufen unterschiedlich bezeichnete Krankheiten hervor: Die May-Hegglin Anomalie und das Fechtner-, Sebastian-, Epstein-, und Alport-like-Syndrom, sowie eine Schwerhörigkeit ohne weitere Symptome (DFNA17).
