Das Trichohepatoenterisches Syndrom 1 ist eine autosomal rezessive Erkrankung, die durch Mutationen des TTC37-Gens ausgelöst wird. Die Erkrankung ist charakterisiert durch eine bereits intrauterin auffallende Wachstumsverzögerung, wolliges Haar aufgrund von Trichorrhexis nodosa, Gesichtsdysmorphien, eine Infektanfälligkeit und vor allem eine persistente Diarrhoe, die unmittelbar nach der Geburt zu einer parenteralen Ernährung zwingt. Die Prognose ist schlecht und wird vor allem durch die begleitende Lebererkrankung bestimmt.
Die Prävalenz aller Trichohepatoenterischen Syndrome liegt unter 1:1.000.000.
