Metabolische Störungen der proximalen Tubulusepithelzellen führen zur intrazelluären Energieknappheit und dies hat eine Störung aller aktiven Transportprozesse zur Folge. Die Reaktions ist deshalb recht unspezifisch und wird als renotubuläres Fanconi-Syndrom bezeichnet.
