Die Mevalonsäure-Azidurie ist eine autosomal rezessive Erkrankung, die durch Mutationen im MVK-Gen ausgelöst wird. Die Erkrankung ist durch Gedeihstörung, Verzögerung der psychomotorischen Entwicklung, Ataxie, wiederkehrende Fieber-Attacken, Hepatosplenomegalie und zentralem Katarakt gekennzeichnet. Die Kinder versterben frühzeitig.
