Allgemein ist das Wolframsyndrom durch Diabetes insipidus, Diabetes mellitus, Optikusatrophie und Taubheit gekennzeichnet. Die hier dargestellte Unterform wird durch Mutationen im CISD2-Gen ausgelöst und zeigt eine autosomal rezessive Vererbung.
